Made for Mermaids Sewing Patterns are digital downloads. You will print OR project them at home, OR send them to a copy shop to print. This is not a physical garment or pattern and nothing will be mailed to you. Demi is your new favorite athletic pattern. This one-piece athletic dress features a faux wrap front with flattering gathering at one side and no waist seam for a sleek silhouette. The wrap side hemline sits longer than the underskirt, creating a layered look with movement. The front neckline is a wide scoop, while the back features a racerback with a low back cutout. The neckline and armscyes are finished with a lining, and the bodice linings attach directly to the built-in shorties for a smooth interior finish. The underskirt is sewn into the shorties and secured into the side seam on the faux wrap side, creating the layered, wrap skirt look. The back skirt includes flattering seaming, with the center back hem extended for added coverage. The built-in shorties feature no front seam, a gusset, side panels with optional pockets, and your choice of a 3″ or 4″ inseam. Demi also includes a separate sports bra you can wear alone or layered under the dress. The bra mirrors the same neckline and back lines and is finished with an enclosed elastic band for comfort and support. This is a complicated pattern to make adjustments to, and the construction is not simple. Suggested Fabrics: •Fabric content will affect the drape and fit. •Drafted for medium weight knits (200gsm ) with 4-way stretch, great recovery, and a minimum 50% horizontal stretch, and 50% vertical stretch. Look for high spandex content, 5% minimum, but I prefer 12%-25%. Note- the higher spandex content and heavier weight knits (250gsm ) will feel tighter and give more compression. •Peached performance fabric, Nylon spandex (not swim fabric, but athletic fabric and look for higher weight), athletic knits- athletic ribbed, athletic brushed poly, etc. •I like to self line my Demi, but you could also use another similar weight athletic knit for the lining. You do not want to use a different weight or stretch fabric for the lining, it will not work well. •For the separate sports bra- optional innerlining for added support OR removable cup option, you will need power mesh or power net Notions: •All options need 1/4″ clear elastic for added support •Sports bra option- 1″ knit elastic and optional- sewing cups for the removable cup option •Optional- 1/2″ wonder under or knit hem tape •Basics: thread, pins or clips, scissors, ruler, hem gauge, safety pin or bodkin, and marking tool.
