It illustrates Geneva at the extremity of Lake Geneva (Lac Leman), showing the city’s defenses, including both existing bastions and projected fortifications marked with a cross that were never actually built. The map is adorned with multiple ornamental cartouches, including one featuring two cherubs holding a coat of arms. The engraving comes from the Nicolas de Fer atlas “Les Forces de l’Europe, ou Description des principales villes, avec leurs fortifications.” engraved by Herman van Loon, published in Paris, 1693.
