Made for Mermaids Sewing Patterns are digital downloads. You will print OR project them at home, OR send them to a copy shop to print. This is not a physical garment or pattern and nothing will be mailed to you. Stephanie is a beautiful knit pattern full of options. The crossover bodice is lined and slightly gathers in the front. The back bodice has elastic across the top and fixed straps. Choose from a non-waistband or waistband option. The non-waistband option is an empire waist. The waistband option hits at the natural waist and can be plain or with a tie in front. The skirt option is a flattering 1/4 circle skirt. Choose from 3 hemline lengths: dress, midi, or maxi. You can choose a plain skirt or a skirt with a slit. The romper includes shorts, cropped, or pants options with 5 inseam options: 3”, 4”, 22”, 30”, or 32”. You can add optional pockets on the romper with a waistband. The romper option with no waistband will have an elastic waist. Stephanie can easily be dressed up for special occasions, vacations, date nights, family photos, or casually for everyday wear. Skill level: •Intermediate- Sewing the lined crossover bodice, gathering, and understanding markings may be difficult for a beginner. Suggested Fabrics: •Drafted for light to medium weight knits with at least 30% horizontal stretch, 30% vertical stretch, good recovery, and nice drape. •ITY, double brushed polyester, modal, bamboo lycra, high-quality ribbed knit, etc. •Lighter weight knits without recovery, such as rayon spandex, tend to ‘grow with wear’ and will fit looser than intended. •Fabrics with less vertical stretch, strong recovery (such as athletic knit, french terry, stretch velvet, and cotton lyrca), and heavier weight knits will not drape as nicely and will be bulkier at the waistline. Notions: •3/8″ (10mm) knit elastic for upper back elastic: 1/2 yard (grey-green) or 1 yard (yellow-navy) •1/4″ or 3/8″ knit elastic for waist casing elastic on the non-waistband option: 1 yard (grey-yellow) or 1 1/2 yard (orange-navy) •Optional – 1/4″ or 3/8″ (10mm) clear elastic for the waistband option to stabilize the seam •Optional – Lightweight tricot interfacing •Basics: pins or clips, scissors or rotary cutter, ruler, hem gauge, marking tool.
