The map shows Korea as a peninsula, China with the Great Wall depicted, Australia and New Guinea include new discoveries of Tasman, Janszoon and Cartensz, the delineation of Japan includes the discoveries of De Vries in Yedso. The map is ornamented with various types of sailing vessels, animals, a compass rose, a dedication and coat of arms of D. Henrico Spiegel (Senator of Amsterdam), animals on the African continent and a splendid title cartouche surrounded by mermaids and the angel of Fame. The map comes from Nicolaes Visscher atlas “Atlas Contractus Orbis Terrarum Praecipuas ac Novissimas Complectens Tabulas…” published in Amsterdam 1677.
