Title:           “Destruccio Iherosolime” Description: One of the earliest incunable double-leaf view of the city Jerusalem published in Schedel’s Nuremberg Chronicle, printed by Koberger in 1493 in Nuremberg.  It is an imaginary view of the destruction of Jerusalem, with towers toppled and the Temple of Solomon engulfed in flames. Major points in the city are identified with text notations. In the upper left of the image, are the figures of Jesus and Satan shown on top of Mount of Satan. Verso eight smaller woodcuts of saints and a half-page scene showing the attack on Jerusalem present. Page numbers: LXIII & LXIIII Schedel’s view of Jerusalem is one of the earliest obtainable views of the City and realistically the only large format 15th Century illustration available to collectors! The Nuremberg Chronicles was the first printed history of the known world with about 2000 woodcuts the most picturesque work of the early time of printing. It became one of the most popular books of the 15th. century. Latin edition.
