The most prominent feature of our Tsepame statue is the ambrosia vessel resting on his upturned palms — the long-life vase filled with the nectar of longevity, its lid rising into a tall ornamental sprouting plume. Tsepame wears the full crown and jewels of a Bodhisattva: a five-pointed crown accented in deep blue at its central peak, large circular floral earrings with long pendant drops, and a two-strand necklace set pairing a short jeweled collar with a long beaded chain that loops down to the belly, complemented by armbands and wristlets. Wide ribboned scarves loop openly around both elbows and flare outward into large stylized swirls at either side of his knees, giving the fully gilded figure a sense of graceful, celestial movement. At the request of the buyer, we will be happy to embellish the crown and jewels with turquoise and red coral stones — at no additional charge, our artisans will install the stones before delivery. The statue will stand out and inspire all who see it.Traditional features of the statue include the gathered topknot of blue-black hair rising above the crown, capped with a gold finial — the ushnisha arrangement counted among the 32 marks of an enlightened being — and the urna, the third eye of wisdom between the brows, indicating that Tsepame has achieved the state of perfected wisdom. His face is finished with delicate hand-painted detail, from the finely arched blue-black brows to the lips finished in red. Tsepame sits in vajra (full lotus) pose on a single lotus pedestal; vajra is a Sanskrit word translating as diamond or lightning bolt, a symbol of indestructible virtue.Tsepame Statue used for Longevity RitualsTsepame statues serve as the centerpiece of Tibetan longevity rituals, because Tsepame is the embodiment of the longevity attribute of Amitabha Buddha. Buddhas and high-level Bodhisattvas have the ability to take any form necessary to ease the suffering of sentient beings, and Amitabha appears as Tsepame to grant long life to devotees. In these rituals, a vessel is filled with wine and consecrated, and participants each drink a small portion in the hopes of prolonging life and removing obstacles to practice.
