Made for Mermaids Sewing Patterns are digital downloads. You will print OR project them at home, OR send them to a copy shop to print. This is not a physical garment or pattern and nothing will be mailed to you. Maeve is a fun knit pattern full of options. Choose to make it a dress or separate top and skirt. It is a dolman style bodice designed to be oversized through the bust and fitted through the skirt waist, hips, and thigh. It has 2 neckline options finished with a neckband, a regular neckline or wide neck. The wide neck option can be worn on or off the shoulder. If you choose separates, you can make a crop or full top length. Both lengths have a hemmed or banded finish. The banded option will fit snuggly and the hemmed option will be loose. The separate skirt and dress have 4 length options: mini, dress, midi, or maxi. You can choose to add single or double slits in 4 height options: extra high, high, mid, or low. The separate skirt is finished with 1” knit elastic. Choose from a relaxed or puffed sleeve. The relaxed sleeve has a hemmed 3/4 or cuffed long sleeve. The puff sleeve includes a hemmed 3/4, hemmed long, or cuffed long sleeve. Perfect to wear every day, holidays, family photos, or any special occasions. Sizes (includes both imperial and metric measurements): •Fits upper bust sizes 31″-53″ or 78.7-95.2 cm •Fits full bust sizes 30″-60″ or 76.2-153.4 cm •Fits natural waist sizes: 23″-57″ or 58.4-134.6 cm. •Fits hips sizes: 34″-64″ or 86.3-162.6 cm. Skill level: •Confident beginner- Working with sweater knits, the slit option, and gathering may be the most difficult steps for a beginner. Suggested Fabrics: •Fabric content will affect the drape and fit. •Maeve is drafted for medium weight knits with at least 40% stretch, good drape, and good recovery. Something with a softer drape and more vertical stretch, like a very light sweater knit, rayon spandex and some waffle knits tend to ‘grow’ with wear and feel looser/longer than the intended fit. You want something with good recovery for the neckband and sleeve cuff. •Sweater knits, ribbed knits, some thicker waffle knits, rayon french terry blends, etc. Notions: •The separate skirt option will need 1″ knit elastic for the waist. •1/4″ clear elastic for added support at the seams. I highly recommend adding the clear elastic to the waist seam of the dress option. •Optional: 1/2″ interfacing or knit hem tape for hemming. •Basics: iron, marking tool, ruler, snips, thread, pins or clips, scissors or rotary cutter, hem gauge. Ball point, stretch, or jersey needle.
