There are many meerschaum carvers in Turkey, but only a select few are granted the honor of signing their name on the pipes they make. This isn’t to say that an unsigned meerschaum pipe is not a high quality one, but, just like in the briar pipe factories of old, some meerschaum carvers are so renowned that their name holds as much renown as the brands they represent. The MBSD Meerschaum Masters series is comprised exclusively of works by these living greats. In the case of this one, it’s a squat, operatic, and rather Danish take on the Dublin, crafted by Eskişehir’s master Çevik. Low-slung and mounted with sterling silver, the pipe features an amber-toned acrylic mouthpiece and a reverse calabash system in its shank, the latter providing an even cooler, drier smoke than a standard-bore meerschaum pipe.
